If you grow up in North Carolina, and have any interest in sports, then you are probably a fan of one of our major universities; University of North Carolina, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest, or East Carolina. Perhaps you might even be a fan of several. In our house it is North Carolina first, then NC State. My husband graduated from both. This is for him, finished a few weeks ago. Measuring 60"x80", it is perfect for curling up on the couch for basketball games. Game time is also quilting time for me.
The pattern is Economy; it was machine pieced and hand quilted in less than six months. Not too bad, considering that much of my time in summer is spent in the garden.
I had talked with other quilters about different products for marking the quilting pattern. Several have had success with the ultra washable Crayola markers. I tested them on the fabric first. I always prewash. I then used a variety of colors on samples of all these fabrics, and washed them again. All the marks came out. So I marked the quilting lines on the entire quilt, before basting the sandwich.
Here is a portion after quilting, but before I washed the quilt.
Once I finished the binding, I washed the quilt (yes, in the washing machine, on gentle cycle). Here are the final results. The thread is grey. The marks are gone.

Mouse update: this morning the mouse trap we had on top of the battery of my car was gone. No sigh of it. No sign of a dead mouse either, but a lot of acorn shells which were not there yesterday. We try again.
