I have had a recurring problem. About six months ago, the windshield washer stopped working on my car. The car is only three years old, so I found this odd, but since it was going into the shop for regular maintenance, I asked them to check. They found that a rodent had chewed the hose for the washer fluid. The repair man made some repair, and said it should be ok.
Two months later, the same thing. He made another splice in the hose and cleaned out the nest (again) which was in the hood insulation panel. He also suggested we set traps under the hood. We did, but never caught the mouse. Perhaps it had moved on?
Last night, I was stopped at a stop light when I saw a mouse run across the hood, and down between the windshield wipers!
Today, we opened the hood to find the remains of acorns on top of the battery and around the windshield wipers. We pulled off the insulation panel , and found where the mouse had been nesting. No mouse siting, but it might be hiding somewhere. After using the leaf blower to clean off the engine, we put traps under the hood and on top.
I would not have thought this was a city problem! My hawk friend needs to get busy.
Here he is shortly after catching a rabbit in the front yard, last week.
Back to quilting in tomorrow's post!
